I am an Associate Professor of Political Science in the the Department of Social Sciences at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. This Fall, I will be an Associate Professor of Public Policy & Law at Trinity College. My work examines how attorneys’ identities, particularly sex and gender, shapes substantive outcomes at the U.S. Supreme Court. Across a number of studies, both published and in process, I draw utilize quantitative textual analysis and look across subfield and disciplinary boundaries to find attorneys are more successful when their arguments comply with gender norms rather than professional norms. My ongoing research explores how changing institutional contexts alter the impact of gender on outcomes.

Additionally, I immensely value teaching and often draw upon my research interests in the classroom. I am immensely proud that three of my former students are presently pursuing their PhDs in political science.

This website highlights my work and provides more detail than my curriculum vitae. If you would like to contact me, please feel free to reach out via e-mail at shane.gleason at tamucc.edu
